Trent Share Price | This stock of Tata Group made investors cry, the stock fell 18% in 15 trading sessions

Trent Share Price | The stock market witnessed a massive correction on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, with the Sensex falling over 500 points.

Amid this market crash, Tata Group’s Trent Ltd emerged as a major loser, with its stock falling over 5% to hit a day’s low of ₹5,782.

Despite Trent’s earlier strong performance in January, this fall has shocked investors.

Worst performer in Nifty 50

Trent Ltd had a challenging start to the year, with its shares falling 18% in just 15 trading sessions. It was the worst performing stock in the Nifty 50 index not only in Tuesday’s session but in the whole of January 2025.

This is a stark contrast to 2024, when Trent was the best performing stock in the index, delivering a stellar return of over 133%.

Long-Term Returns

Despite the recent struggles, Trent has been a long-term winner:

  • 1-year return: 85%
  • 5-year return: 900%

However, recent downgrades by brokerage firms have put pressure on the stock.

Oversold Territory

Tuesday’s decline pushed Trent shares below their 200-day moving average, a key technical indicator. Its Relative Strength Index (RSI) fell to 27, which signals that the stock has entered the oversold zone.

Stocks are typically considered oversold when their RSI falls below 30. Trent shares are now trading 31% lower than their 52-week high price of ₹8,345, recorded on October 14, 2024.

Revised Target Price

Last week, Kotak Institutional Equities downgraded Trent from “Add” to “Sell”, citing the need to book profits after the stock’s impressive rally.

The brokerage has set a revised target price of ₹5,850. While the stock is currently trading below this target, Kotak remains optimistic about Trent’s potential, forecasting:

  • Revenue CAGR: 29%
  • EPS CAGR: 35% (FY25–FY27)

Of the 22 analysts covering Trent:

  • 12 recommend buy
  • 5 recommend hold
  • 5 recommend sell

Conclusion – Trent Share Price

Trent’s recent decline may be a concern for short-term investors, but its strong long-term growth potential continues to attract attention. Analyst opinion is divided, with a mix of optimism and caution about the stock’s future performance.
